I liked your connecting "the waters of Babylon" to your own experience of what many would call "the dark night of the soul." Been there, done that, do not want to go back.
Have you read the book of Habbakkuk, also known as the shortest book in the Old Testament? His experience is the flip side of the exiles, being one of the few priests left in Israel to comfort those that weren't shipped off to Babylon.
